Back in my youth, I distinctly remember watching an episode of the Golden girls where Dorothy, Rose, Blanche, and Sophia took a trip for a weekend murder mystery, hosted by Blanche's boss. I loved it! This was also the time of video stores. One weekend while perusing the VHS shelves, I noticed the box for Clue. The box had a picture of all the different characters: the Butler, Ms. Scarlet, Mrs. Peacock, the Colonel, and more! Well, obviously, I rented this immediately, went home and fell obsessed with the movie and the whole idea of murder mysteries. Flash forward to New York City around 2007. In January and February I started hosting, what I called a “winter retreat, murder mystery, dinner party”. I would have friends assemble at my apartment as different characters and prepare a six-course meal. Each course of the meal offered different clues, an insight into the storyline of the evening. Friends would dress up elaborately, and the evening was such a blast! Each course was carefully thought out and paired with a different wine as well. These were so much fun and became something we really looked forward to. This is why we started producing murder mystery dinner experiences for our food tour guests. The fun, the dressing up, the food, the role play, the game! In the last two years we have produced almost a dozen murder mystery events for the public and private groups. We love it! In keeping with my original plan, each evening event is centered around delicious food, and courses of clues and details. Each event offers something different and unique. Live music and actors help to create a wonderful ambience and evening. We are very excited for our next murder mystery events. Kicking off with an homage to the Italian American family and pizzerias, Pizza, Paesanos, and the Pinch. Followed by a love letter to the 1970s disco, Stayin’ Alive at the Flamingo Club which will surely get you dancing, and groovin' the night away with music, mayhem, and murder! I hope you can join us for one of the shows this season and share in my love of these fun-filled immersive experiences! Thank you so much for taking some time to learn a little bit more about our tours and love for all things delicious and fun! Click here to get tickets to any of our upcoming events.
We look forward to seeing you soon! Joey G & The JGNT Family
